Force of Nature
The Mercer Gallery, Harrogate
18th January - 18th April 2020
18th January - 18th April 2020
To run alongside their 'Tuner: Northern Exposure' exhibition, the curators at the Mercer Gallery, Harrogate have invited five popular and well respected contemporary artists to show work that in some way relates to JMW Turner and his travels North.
This exhibition entitled 'Force of Nature' includes new work by Anna Lilleengen. Debbie Loane, Ed Kluz, Katharine Holmes and Emerson. These will be inter-woven with pictures from Harrogate's Fine Art Collection which include such names as Ivon Hitchens, Patrick Heron, Barbara Rae and Atkinson Grimshaw.
Emerson will be exhibiting over twenty new artworks of the landscapes and places Turner visited on his trips North such as Harewood House, Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey. He has also included a small number of 'urban nocturnes' as he is convinced if Turner was around and painting today he would be fascinated by our towns and cities at night.
Sadly due to Covid-19 the exhibition closed early, therefore you can see (and buy if tempted) all of the work Emerson included in this exhibition by clicking here.
