What is Field Notes: A Monthly Mailing?
There's something worth preserving in the idea of things arriving by post rather than email — something tangible, put together with care, travelling from one person to another. This feels increasingly rare and increasingly worth doing.
I wanted to create something with a sense of belonging, something to look forward to, something that connects. One subscription becoming two postcards in two different places, and a field note full of the things the natural world leads me to. That idea of connection — between my studio and your door, between you and whoever you pass a card on to, and somewhere in between, all of us connecting a little more to the natural world.
And so, here we are — a monthly mailing, by post, rooted in the natural world and the art it inspires.
What you'll receive each month:
A quality A5 postcard carrying one of my monotype wildlife images on the front, with a short note on the reverse about that month's subject. Something worth keeping, framing, or simply collecting alongside the others as a way of marking the year through wildlife.
A smaller A6 postcard of the same monotype, to send to someone who might appreciate a little wildlife dropping through their door — though that's certainly not a requirement, more just a suggestion.
The Field Note — my own wanderings through the culture that surrounds that month's wildlife. It could be folklore, books, music or many other things — a monthly miscellany of the things that find their way into my very unorganised mind. Each field note also contains a QR code linking to a page where you can explore everything mentioned that month in more depth. Here subscribers will also find an exclusive discount code for my Etsy shop.
