Project: 100 WORKS IN 100 DAYSWhat does an artist do when the year begins firmly ‘locked down’, with galleries closed and exhibitions that were optimistically postponed now sensibly cancelled? That was a question Emerson had to ask myself when he walked into his studio one cold January morning.
Emerson set himself the challenge of producing a new piece of work everyday for one hundred days - all of which can be seen on his ever-popular Instagram account Podcast: NORTHERN VOICESEmerson was privileged to be invited to talk to Johnny Messum as part of Messums Harrogate's 'Northern Voices' podcast.
Being a Harrogate boy he was thrilled when Messums decided to strike North and open a gallery in his home town. The podcast is part of an ongoing series explores views of the North with those who made it the bedrock of their careers. |
Buy: HELP LOCAL CHARITIESOver the recent lockdowns Emerson produced three sets of small paintings which he sold on his online shop, with 20% of all sales donated to three Harrogate-based charities - Harrogate International Festivals, Long Lands Common and Supporting Older People.
Book: KINGFISHERThree of Emerson's paintings will are included in the new Mascot Media publication 'Kingfisher'.
With 108 works by over forty painters, printmakers and sculptors, it is certainly a feast for the eyes. Running alongside the variety of visual treats the bird's appearance, behaviour, habitat and conservation status is also discussed, together with words from many of the artists involved. |
Exhibition: FORCE OF NATURERunning alongside the Mercer Gallery's JMW Turner's show 'Northern Exposure', 'Force of Nature' is an exhibition of five regional artists whose work has been influenced by this iconic painter. They include Anna Lilleengen. Debbie Loane, Ed Kluz, Katharine Holmes and Emerson.
The exhibition runs from 18th January until the 18th April 2020 at the Mercer Gallery, Harrogate. |
